My 2 cents at philippes

Beef sandwich double dipped of course. Coleslaw, Stuff it in your sandwich, a must for me. Plus tell the server not to get rid of the sauce. Dipping the sandwich into the coleslaw sauce will one up your eating experience, trust. And last but not least, a warm American cherry pie to top it all off. If I was hungry right now I’d be salivating. Getting the lemonade nxt time, ice tea is not for me.

Fritty.

Forgot to take a picture of the actual sandwhiches, sorry! This is all we have.

French Dippin’

Philippe The Original

Los Angeles, CA

Yesterday myself and the other F.W.A.’s embarked on a long awaited quest to the World Famous Philippe The Original to  put the “French Dipped Sandwhich” to the test. We’ve all seen the restaurant pop up on the lovely food network and travel channel appearing in shows like Man vs. Food and Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations and with the location being so close to home, we just had to see what all the fuss was about.

We (we meaning Chantilly, Fritz, Mike, and myself) all decided to order the Beef French Dip “double dipped” since it was number one on our brave friend Adam Richman’s list of which meat is best inside the French Dip, two sides of potato salad, two sides of coleslaw, one slice of cherry pie, one slice of peach pie, and iced teas all around.

To get to the chase, the Frech Dip was BOMB.  The meat was tender and easy to bite through, the light and crispy French roll was dipped in tasy au jus, and the potato salad and coleslaw were perfect tangy side salads.  I’m not a big fan of pies to begin with but the cherry was way more pleasing than the peach. Oh! I almost forgot to mention the hot mustard sauce. If you like that wasabi hurts in your nose feeling then that’s the sauce for you. We learned that the hard way and over-generously squirted that baby into half of our sandwhich. Next time I’ going for the lamb, since it’s number two on Adam’s list. Only $5.55 for each sandwhich!

We are F.W.A

Friends With an Appetite is who we are. If you know us, WE LOVE FOOD, we eat good, and can honestly self-proclaim ourselves as the foodies of all foods. We all share this love of chow so we thought it was only fitting to create a mini-blog to account our delicious adventures with what else? FOOD! And all kinds of it - Asian, Mediterranean, European, Californian - entrees, desserts, drinks, ANYTHING that’s worthy of posting.

Anyway, maybe this will help some of you in venturing out to new places to eat, to see what the food is like before you go, and to just salivate when you are in extreme hunger. This will also help us recollect our fondest memories that have to do with, yes, FOOD. Enjoy!
